Jeannie Berlin (born November 1, 1949) is an American film, television and stage actress and screenwriter, known for role in the 1972 film The Heartbreak Kid, for which she received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations. Berlin was born Jeannie Brette May in Los Angeles, California to Marvin May and actress/comedian/screenwriter/playwright Elaine May. May directed Berlin in the 1972 film The Heartbreak Kid, which garnered Berlin Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She made her Broadway theatre debut in May's play, After the Night and the Music in 2005. Additional screen credits include Getting Straight, The Strawberry Statement, Portnoy's Complaint, Sheila Levine Is Dead and Living in New York, and Margaret.
