About Job

Did you know that over 155 million Americans are employed as of this moment? Are you apart of that number? If not, there's a few things to consider before becoming apart of the American workforce.

--The minimum age for employment in the United States is 16 years old. While some occupations (delivering papers, radio/television shows) allow minors younger than 16 to work, only a small percentage of jobs today solicit the employment of these minors.

-- Minors between the ages of 16-17 may not perform jobs that put them in potentially hazardous situations, such as operating heavy machinery and using dangerous chemicals.

-- Each state has their own regulations for how long minors under 18 can work in one calendar week and during the school year.

It's strongly encouraged that you visit your states website for up-to-date labor regulations to fully understand the scope of employment in your area.

Before you go job hunting, it's a smart idea to get a resume together.A resume is a document that contains your past work experiences and educational background. Always remember to include the base information in your resume:

-- Your previous job positions; including company, years you were there, a brief summary of the duties you performed.

-- Your educational background; the college/university you attended, the years you were there and the degree you attained.

-- Your contact information; phone number, e-mail, mailing address.

-- Volunteer experiences
