Girolamo Luxardo S.p.A is an Italian liqueur factory. Founded in Zadar, it moved near Padua after 1945.The firm was founded in 1821, in the city of Zara (Zadar in Croatian), by Girolamo Luxardo, who had moved there in 1817 as the consular representative of the Kingdom of Sardinia to the Kingdom of Dalmatia (which was under the Austrian Empire). Zadar was the capital of the Kingdom, after having been for several centuries under the rule of Republic of Venice as the capital of the Stato da Mar.The first and the most successful product was Liquore Maraschino, an old traditional liqueur from Dalmatia. Later the Sangue Morlacco followed.
