In the new situation she becomes the object of desire for several men, all of them also flawed and struggling to find their way. She is treated most kindly by a hired killer, Frank, whose depression with his choice of profession is rendering him vulnerable and dangerous, both to himself and to those who become emotionally attached to him. When she meets Frank, they discover unexpected satisfaction in their shared silences. Frank has found a kindred spirit in the young woman, but their mutual search for redemption and renewal
