Methadone

Methadone is used to relieve moderate to severe pain that has not been relieved by non-narcotic pain relievers. It also is used to prevent withdrawal symptoms in patients who were addicted to opiate drugs and are enrolled in treatment programs in order to stop taking or continue not taking the drugs.

About Methadone

Methadone is synthetic opiate drug. It is mainly used for treatment of narcotic addiction. It helps relieves the symptoms of withdrawal from opioids such as heroin and morphine. This treatment is called MMT or Methadone Maintenance Treatment. This treatment is the most monitored and regulated drug treatment in America.

This treatment is very effective in helping patients over their heroin addiction. It allows the patient to slowly be weaned of heroin making him a productive member of society once again. It helps families reunite and helps lesson the drug problem in communities.

Methadone is safe and does not cause serious side effects. Some common side effects are constipation, sweating, rash and water retention. Long term use does not show any ill effects on the brain, liver, kidneys or other organs of the body.
