About Michael Jackson Cardiac Arrest

On June 25, 2009, singer Michael Jackson died due to cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles, California. He was treated by paramedics at his home, but was pronounced dead at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. His personal physician, Conrad Murray, stated that he found Jackson in his room, not breathing but with a faint pulse, and that he tried to help him by performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson said the 911 call from the Jackson residence came in at 12:21:04 p.m. Paramedics reached Jackson at 12:26 p.m. and found that he was not breathing. They performed CPR for 42 minutes at the house and then transported Jackson to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, a couple miles from the house. The ambulance arrived at the hospital at approximately 1:14 p.m. A team of medical personnel attempted to resuscitate Jackson for more than one hour. They were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m.

While initial rumors centered on the use of painkillers in Jackson's death, attention later turned to the medications he took for insomnia. On August 28, 2009, the Los Angeles County Coroner concluded that Jackson's death was a homicide caused by the combination of drugs in his body. Before his death, Jackson had been administered Propofol, along with two anti-anxiety medicines - Lorazepam and Midazolam. Law enforcement officials investigated his personal physician, who told investigators that he had been trying to wean Jackson off Propofol. On February 8, 2010, Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter by prosecutors in Los Angeles.
