Jos Miguel Cabrera Torres (born April 18, 1983), commonly known as Miguel Cabrera, and nicknamed 'Miggy', 'Cabby' and 'Big Cat', is a Venezuelan Major League Baseball third baseman for the Detroit Tigers. He bats and throws right-handed. He has also played first base, left field, right field and designated hitter. He is a seven-time All-Star, having been selected to the National League All-Star Team in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, and also the American League All-Star Team in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Cabrera has started at least 100 games at first base, third base, left field and right field. He progressed through the Florida Marlins minor-league system, before being called up from the Double-A Carolina Mudcats in June 2003. Cabrera went on to help the Florida Marlins win the World Series that year as their clean-up hitter. Cabrera is widely regarded to be one of the best pure hitters in baseball, hitting at a high average with power to all fields.
