National Donut Day

National Donut Day

National Donut Day is on the first Friday of June each year. It was begun in 1938 by the Salvation Army to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday celebrates the donut (doughnut), that delicious ring of sugary dough, eaten either plain or with innumerable toppings. Companies offering free donuts for Donut Day include Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts.
