Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of several awards awarded each year through the Nobel Foundation in Sweden.

About Nobel Peace Prize

Each year in December the Nobel Foundation administers the awarding of prizes to scholars and scientists who have made a great contribution to the fields of physics, chemistry, and several other categories. The Nobel Peace Prize is given out at the same time, but it is slightly differently.

According to the will of Alfred Nobel, the Peace Prize must be awarded by a committee picked by the Norwegian government (all the other Nobel Prize winners are picked by Swedish groups), and is awarded to someone who has, … done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses. Individuals or groups who have made great strides towards world peace receive the Prize each year.

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the most prestigious awards in the world. Some famous winners are: The International Committee of the Red Cross’, Woodrow Wilson’, Albert Schweitzer’, George Marshall’, Martin Luther King Jr.’, Henry Kissinger’, Eisaku Sato’, Amnesty International’, Mother Teresa’, Lech Walesa’, Elie Wiesel’, Tenzin Gyatso (HH the 14th Dalai Lama)’, Mikhail Gorbachev’, Aung San Suu Kyi’, Nelson Mandela’, Jimmy Carter’, Mohamed ElBaradei’, Al Gore’, and Barack Obama’.
