Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States, and the first African American president. Born in Hawaii, he is a United States citizen, although he exprienced other cultures as a youth, living with his mother in Indonesia, for example. He graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law school.

About Obama

Barack Obama is the son of a white woman from Kansas and a father from Kenya. He saw very little of his father when he was young, as his parents separated when he was two years old. He lived with his grandparents in Hawaii, where he went to high school.

He started his undergraduate studies in Los Angeles but soon transferred to Columbia University in New York City, where he graduated. He entered Harvard Law where he was Editor of the Law Review. A stint as an Illinois State Senator, then as a U.S. Senator from Illinois, was followed by his nomination and election as President in 2008.
