Ohio

Ohio is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. To the north it is bordered by Michigan and Lake Erie. To the south is Kentucky and West Virginia. It is bordered by Pennsylvania and West Virginia on the east and Indiana on the west. Ohio residents experience cold winters and warm, humid summers. In the winter the average temperatures are in the 30’s and summer temperatures are in the low 80’s.

There is so much to do and see in Ohio that it often takes more than one visit to accomplish everything on your list. There are museums, zoos, wineries and conservation centers. There are many hiking areas and cities to explore. Ohio is home to the largest Amish population where you can get a glimpse into living the simple life. If sports are your thing, Ohio is home to a professional team of every sport! The state is rich with history and boasts having the largest military aviation museum in the country.

Ohio joined the Union on March 1, 1803 as the 17th state. Its capital city is Columbus which is also its largest city. Ohio’s state bird is the Cardinal and the state animal is the White-tailed Deer. The state flower is the Red Carnation and the state tree is the Buckeye. The state motto, which was adopted in 1959 is With God all things are possible. The state has been nicknamed The Buckeye State with is residents commonly referred to as Buckeyes.
