Oklahoma

Oklahoma, located in the central United States, is bordered by New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas. Its climate is moderate with warm summers and cold winters. Temperatures in the winter on average are about 37°F (3°C) and in the summer the average is around 82°F (28°C). Oklahoma City is one of the windiest cities in the United States and Oklahoma is prone to tornados.

About Oklahoma

Oklahoma became the 46th state On November 16, 1907. Its state bird is the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. The state flower is Mistletoe and the state tree is the Redbud. The state motto of Oklahoma is Labor omnia vincit which translates to Labor conquers all things.

When traveling through Oklahoma you may wish to visit the Cherokee Heritage Center in Park Hill, the Five Civilized Tribes Museum, Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan,
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie, or the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa. Oklahoma has many state parks. The most famous among them is the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail, which is maintained by the National Park Service. The Trail of Tears commemorates the The Indian Removal Act of 1830. This caused the removal of all American Indian east of the Mississippi River to the West. It is a sad and dark part of our American history. Many Indians perished along the trail which is around 2,200 miles long and goes through 9 different states.
