Pac-man

Pac-man

Pacman is one of the most famous arcade games of all time. One of the secrets of its success is that it appealed to both boys and girls.

About Pac-man

Pacman is an early video game that was first released in Japan on May 22, 1980. It was an instant hit in the United States and remains so more than thirty years later. Not content with dominating the video game market, the Pacman empire soon included an animated TV series and a hit single. It is also featured in at least 30 licensed game spinoffs. It also became an icon of 80s America. Thousands of people played it on their computers or in bars at special game tables that took quarter after quarter for a play. It was hard to stop playing it!

C-Net reported on the meaning of the game on its 30th anniversary and In honor of Pacman's 30th birthday, Google changed its logo and home page to include a fully playable version of the game.

But long before the Halos and the Sims and the Call of Dutys and the Maddens began bringing in billions of dollars, the world was dominated by a simple yellow character munching his way through a maze of dots, trying to avoid getting eaten by ghosts. On May 22, 1980, a Japanese company called Namco Bandai released a game in Japan called Puck-Man. The title was rejected in the United States because some worried that the P would chip off the cabinet and look like an 'F'.''
