Prom is the formal dance, beloved by most high school students, where everyone dresses up and becomes an elegant version of themselves for just one night.
Prom, in the United States and Canada, is a formal dance held near the end of junior and/or senior year. It is a major high school that has been a longstanding tradition in popular culture. A student attending prom during junior year may call it their Junior Prom and high school seniors thus may call it Senior Prom. In many cases, prom is a combined junior and senior dance for both age groups.
There is typically a Prom Court, Prom King, and Prom queen for this dance. The Court is selected by students for the running of Prom King and Queen. Many consider the crowning of king and queen much of a high school popularity contest, nonetheless, they are honorary titles given to two students.
