San Francisco is a city in California, home to over 805,000 people, and is known for its chilly summer fog, steep hills, cable cars and famous landmarks. One of its most famous landmarks is the Golden Gate Bridge. The island of Alcatraz is part of San Francisco and it sits on the Pacific Ocean. San Francisco is located on a seven-by-seven mile piece of land between the San Francisco Bay and Pacific coast.

-Chinese fortune cookies were invented at Golden Gate Park's Tea Garden by the Japanese Hagiwara family. Chinatown's Ross Alley fortunate cookie factory began producing them. San Francisco has the largest Chinese community in the world, outside of China.

-Denim jeans were invented in San Francisco for the Gold Rush miners who needed tough, comfortable clothing.
