About Seether

Known for: Melodic alternative metal and the hits 'Broken', 'Remedy', 'Fake It', and 'Rise Above This'

Seether is a South African hard rock band. Formed in 1999 in Pretoria, South Africa, as 'Saron Gas' by lead singer and songwriter Shaun Morgan, the band changed its name to Seether, taken from the title of Veruca Salt song, and coinciding with the release of their 2002 breakout album, 'Disclaimer.'

Shaun's emotional grit which he communicates in his music has distinguished Seether from other bands on the hard rock scene, though drawing comparisons with bands such as Shinedown and Staind. Seether has released five albums and eleven singles to date.

Seether has had their share of shakeups on tour and as a band. Seether has seen five members depart, most notably lead guitarist Pat Callahan (2002-2006). Morgan's relationship with Amy Lee, lead singer of Evanescence, who also sang the duet in Broken with Morgan, ended in a messy public breakup. The band's tour schedule was also affected by Shaun Morgan's alcohol addiction, and resulted in Seether having to cancel their 2006 summer tour with the bands Staind and Three Days Grace.

Seether has a sixth album set to release in September or October 2010, according Morgan. Morgan has suggested that the album will feature 16 tracks. The album does not have a firm release date or title yet.
