About Shaun Morgan

Born: Shaun Morgan Welgemoed, December 21, 1978, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa

Known for: Lead singer and songwriter for melodic hard rock group Seether

Shaun Morgan is a South African singer and songwriter. In 1999. Morgan formed the rock band Saron Gas which changed its name to Seether in 2002 preceding the release of the album 'Disclaimer.' Seether has since then produced five studio albums and eleven singles, several of which have risen to #1 on mainstream rock charts. Morgan's success as an artist has been credited to his gritty emotional voice and hard rock melodies.

Morgan's relationship with Amy Lee, the lead singer of Evanescence who sang the duet on the hit 'Broken' with Morgan, and their subsequent breakup was very messy and highly publicized. Morgan was reportedly very bitter afterwards, and Lee added her own public commentary which Morgan refused to answer. In 2006, Morgan's addiction to alchohol resulted in Seether's 2006 summer tour with rock stars Staind and Three Days Grace going on without them while Morgan was in rehab.
