In 1863 the first specification for soccer balls were laid out by the Soccer Association. Prior to this, soccer balls were made out of inflated leather. In 1872 the specs were revised and these rules have essentially been left unchanged since.

About Soccer ball

In the 19th century, the soccer ball began to look as it does today. In the 1900's soccer balls were made out of rubber and leather which was perfect for bouncing and kicking. However, the act of heading the ball was usually extremely painful. Also, early versions of the soccer ball deteriorated extremely fast.
