Soulja Boy is an American hip hop artist and producer, he is also known as Soulja Boy Tell Em. He was born in Chicago but moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he was six and then at age fourteen he moved to Mississippi with his father. Mississippi is where his music was mostly influenced and his style was formed. Soulja Boy claims he was influenced immensely by 50 Cent.

In 2004, Soulja Boy started his own record label called Stacks on Deck Entertainment. He began by putting his music on the internet on sites like SoundClick and then YouTube and MySpace. After receiving great reviews he produced his first album Unsigned & Still Major: Da Album Before da Album (2007) with the hit song Crank That which shot him into the spotlight. He was then signed to a record deal by Mr. Collipark of Interscope Records. The rest is history!
