About South Park

'South Park' is an animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. Parker and Stone describe themselves as equal opportunity offenders, whose main agenda is to be funny and make people laugh and as such, the show has become famous for its crude, satirical, and dark humor that mocks a wide range of topics and people.

'South Park' follows four children in Colorado - Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick - and their bizarre adventures in and around the fictional Colorado town of Southpark. The kids encounter all kinds of events, ranging from the fairly typical to the supernatural, which frequently happen around the town.

The boys often act as the voice of reason when these events cause panic among the adult populace, who are regularly irrational, gullible, and panicky, which leaves them frequently confused by the bizarre and hypocritical behavior of their parents and other adults. But that's not to say Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny are not also guilty of being irrational.

'South Park' debuted on August 13, 1997 with great success, consistently earning the highest ratings of any basic cable program. Throughout more than 10 years on TV, ratings have varied, but the show remains Comedy Central's highest-rated and longest-running program.

'South Park' has also received numerous media awards, including four Primetime Emmy Awards. The show also garnered a Peabody Award for Comedy Central.
