About The American (2010)

'The American' is based on the novel 'A Very Private Gentleman' by Martin Booth. 'The American' stars Academy Award-winner George Clooney as a specialist weapons maker. He is hired mainly by assassins who want his specialized expertise. But Jack (Clooney) wants out of his dirty profession. Taking up residence in a quiet Italian town, Jack awaits his last assignment before he quits for good. But while waiting he lets his guard down and forms a relationship with a local woman named Clara and reveals his secrets to the town’s priest, Father Benedetto. But in a dangerous profession, keeping secrets may be all that keeps you alive.
