About The Last Song

Starring Miley Cyrus, 'The Last Song' is a drama based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, and is the first feature film directed by Julie Anne Robinson. 'The Last Song' is also pop artist and 'Hannah Montana' star Miley Cyrus' feature film debut.

'The Last Song' features Cyrus as Ronnie Miller, a troubled teenager reconnecting with her estranged father (Greg Kinnear) and who falls in love over one summer. Forced to move to a small town in the south from New York, Ronnie holds a grudge against her dad for doing that to her. In the midst of their issues, her dad tries his best to heal the wounds and reconnect with his daughter through the one thing they mutually love: music.

Offspring Entertainment produced the film for Touchstone Pictures, a unit of Walt Disney Pictures.

Sparks' screenplay, completed in January 2009, is his first script to be optioned for film. The screenplay was also simultaneously marketed as a novel; ironically, it's the longest novel that Sparks has written. The novel is set in North Carolina, but was changed for the film to Georgia after much campaigning by the state to host production. 'The Last Song' became the first movie to be shot and set in Tybee Island, GA. Filming lasted from June 15th to August 18th, 2009 with much of it occurring on the island's beaches and piers.

'The Last Song' is rated PG for thematic material, some violence and mild language.
