Tiger Woods Apology

About Tiger Woods Apology

Tiger issued his formal apology on Feb. 19, 2010 saying for all that he has done, he is deeply sorry. He said he thought he could get away with whatever he wanted too. He admitted that he needs help with the issues he is facing and will be returning for more treatment and therapy. Elin was not in attendance but his mother and friends were.

Wow. That's my initial reaction to Tiger's statement. He went into much more detail and did much more apoligizing than I think anyone expected. I'm sure many will wonder how sincere it was, but he convinced me that he is indeed sorry.

A female friend who watched the apology had this to say:
Tiger Woods gave a very insightful speech this morning. There were a lot of apologies. It is obvious that Tiger now realizes the extent of the disappointment his actions have caused. When a typical husband cheats, it does hurt his family most of all, but also those around him. When Tiger Woods cheats, he not only hurts his family, but crushes the thought that he’s someone young people should aspire to be like.

His accomplishments on the golf course have been tremendous, but so has been this disappointment off of the field. In his speech he admitted that because of his fame and success, he felt entitled to a different set of rules. He felt entitled to live his life however he wanted. I hope he’s truthful when he says he realizes that he’s just like everyone else. He’s just as accountable for his actions.

We hope Tiger is true to his word, we hope he puts his family first. We hope he becomes truly someone that young people can look up to again. Time will tell, and as he said in his speech, apologies are meaningful, however the actions that follow mean even more.

Tiger and his wife issued yet another apology on Feb. 23, 2010, for the paparazzi that have hounded their childrens' school since the day he gave his public statement.
