The animal was dehydrated, underweight and hypothermic, and was also found to have ingested plastic from trash in the ocean. Sea turtles often mistake plastic floating in the water as food.'This is a perfect example of why we need to keep marine debris, especially plastics, out of the oceans,' said park veterinarian Hendrik Nollens. SeaWorld's animal care staff is currently treating the sea turtle with fluids and antibiotics, and hope that it can be returned to the wild this summer. SeaWorld San Diego says it rescues nearly 400 marine animals and birds each year.
