About USA TODAY

USA Today is one of the most popular newspapers in the United States. USA Today celebrated its 28th anniversary on September 15, 2010 and was founded by the Gannett Company, Inc. It provides a very reader friendly format for the news, focusing on four main areas: News, Money, Sports, and Life. It even color codes the sections to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for, with News being blue, Money in green, Sports red, and finally purple for Life. It is very affordable, being only $1 a copy. Being only available weekdays, it adds a Weekend section on Fridays where readers can find travel and entertainment articles.

In 1988, USA Today attempted to reach the television audience. The segments of the show corresponded with the sections of the newspaper. The show did not last two full seasons and was canceled due to poor ratings in January of 1990.

As with most publications, USA Today also has their on-line version of their newspaper. The website has the same regular sections from the print version, but also adds Travel, Tech, and Weather. It also hosts popular web content like blogs, classifieds, and games. The blogs allow readers to interact directly with the columnists and other readers. Another popular section is the collection of videos and photo galleries of current news events and celebrities.
