Utah

Utah is found in the western United States. It is bordered by Idaho on the north, Wyoming on the northeast, Arizona on the south, Colorado on the east and Nevada on the west. The majority of the state is of arid climate but there are some pockets that see an abundance of moisture. Some of the mountainous areas have received more than 500 inches of snow within a year. Temperatures in the winter average about 30 degrees where temperatures in the summer average about 85 degrees.

About Utah

Utah is known for its abundance of outdoor opportunities. In the winter months, many flock to the mountains to ski at Deer Valley, Brighton Ski Resort and Brian Head which are only three of Utah’s 14 ski resorts. During the summer months, these same ski resorts offer many other activities such as biking, hiking and more. Another big event that draws a large crowd is the Sundance Film Festival. Every year in January independent filmmakers, actors and film enthusiasts flock to Park City, Salt Lake City and Ogden to celebrate the art of film. By all means, if you head out to the festival do not forget your camera!

Utah became the 45th state to be admitted to the Union on January 4, 1896. Salt Lake City is the state capital, the largest city and the largest metropolitan area in the state. Utah is affectionately nicknamed The Beehive State. The state flower is the Sego Lily, the state tree is the Blue Spruce, the state animal is the Rock Mountain Elk and the state insect is the Honey Bee. Utah’s state motto is Industry which reflects the early pioneers drive to survive using limited material resources.
