Vermont is found in the Northeast region of the United States. It is bordered to the north by Canada, to the east by New Hampshire, to the west by New York and by Massachusetts to the south. The state experiences mild summers with cold winters. Temperature in the winter average in the 20’s where in the summer the temperatures average in the 70’s.

About Vermont

Vermont is well known for its maple syrup. When visiting in the early spring a trip to a sugar house is a must do. Here you can see firsthand how maple syrup is made, straight from tree to bottle. You may even get to experience a northern treasure, sugar on snow. Maple syrup drizzled on fresh snow is a treat not to be missed! Vermont is also known for its many year-round outdoor activities. Skiing (down-hill and cross country), fishing, ice-fishing, hiking, hunting and mountain climbing are only a few activities offered. Wildlife viewing can be exciting. There are many spots where you can view moose in their natural habitat.

Vermont became the 14th state to be admitted to the Union on March 4, 1791. Montpelier, the state capital, saw its first settlers in the year 1787. Vermont’s nickname is The Green Mountain State, in reference to its forests full of conifers. The state motto is Freedom and Unity. The state bird is the Hermit Thrush, the state flower is the Red Clover. The state tree is the Sugar Maple and the state reptile is the Painted Turtle.
