About Weezer

Weezer formed in 1992 in Los Angeles, CA. The original lineup consisted of Rivers Cuomo on vocals, Brian Bell on lead guitar, Pat Wilson on drums and Matt Sharp on bass. They played their first gig opening up for Keanu Reeve's band, Dogstar.

Weezer recorded their debut album with Ric Ocasek of The Cars at Electricity Lady Studios in New York City. It's titled 'Weezer' but it has been renamed 'The Blue Album' by fans and critics for its overwhelming, solid blue cover. The album was released in 1994 and contained the popular singles Undone - The Sweater Song, Buddy Holly and Say It Ain't So. Weezer enlisted music video genius Spike Jonze to film the video for Buddy Holly which showed the band performing in a remade Arnold's Drive-In from 'Happy Days.'

Weezer's next album, 'Pinkerton,' was released in 1996. The album was labeled a flop by critics but it remains a favorite to almost all die-hard Weezer fans. After the 'Pinkerton' tour, the band broke up and Matt Sharp left to form the synth-heavy band The Rentals.

In 2000, Weezer reformed and joined the Vans Warped Tour. Their fans pleaded for a new album and in 2001, they released their second self-titled album. Once again, the fans renamed it The Green Album’ for its solid green cover.

Weezer picked up their recording pace over the last decade. They released six more albums from 2002-2010. In 2010, they released both Hurley’ and Death to False Metal.’
