West Palm Beach, is a city located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Florida and is the most populous city in and county seat of Palm Beach County, the third most populous county in Florida with a 2010 population of 1,320,134. The city is also the oldest incorporated municipality in South Florida, having been incorporated as a city two years before Miami. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2011 the city proper had an estimated population of 101,043. The city is one of the principal cities in the South Florida metropolitan area, which has a population of 5,564,635 in 2010. As of 2000, there were 34,769 households out of which 22.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.3% were married couples living together, 13.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.5% were non-families. 37.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
